This is primarily a downhill trail.
Overview
UPS is the kind of trail where things get really good, really fast. It is the upper most singletrack on the
Porcupine Rim. It connects the
Kokopelli Trail with
LPS singletrack.
Description
UPS starts at a juntion with the Kokopelli route on the right shortly after a cattle guard; it's well signed.
After the short climb to the rim from the trail junction, you'll be overlooking Castle Valley. From here, the trail begins connecting short bits of wavy slickrock. The frequency of rock depends on how close you get to the rim. The closer you are, the more slickrock there is to enjoy.
After rolling along for a bit, you'll get to large slickrock play area. The trail is to the right, but there are multiple lines to get you down. A word of caution: Dont roll an edge blind. It could be a smooth ramp, or it could be a big drop. Scout, then huck.
The steep slick rock area will lead to Malloy Park and the
Porcupine Rim Camping Area. The trail braids here a bit, but keep heading north along the rim and you'll get back on track. Just be careful for tents and sunbathers dotting the trail. Afterwards, a little more rolling trail and slickrock will connect you with
LPS.
