The TRT section between Hwy 431 and Tunnel Creek Rd is open to mountain bikes only on
even days. It's possible to access from Mt. Rose Hwy and old parallel jeep road and avoid the TRT bike restrictions.
Overview
This is a super fun descent that you can incorporate with riding some of the Tahoe Rim Trail. It dumps you out at Diamond Peak ski resort parking lot. You can ride up the pavement and do a "self-shuttle" or use the Flume Shuttle service to take you to the Tahoe Meadows TH.
Description
Ride out for a mile or so along the TRT heading south until you come to the first prominent vista point where the TRT veers left and the Tyrolean DH takes off from the vista heading down and to your right. You'll be traveling sidehill for a bit heading roughly northwest, then a moderately steep descent lands you into an area with linked up berms and some small hits.
The grins really start here and you are on your way. The trail is well traveled and easy to follow. Enjoy the optional trail features, rocks and rollers all the way down. You are probably going to want to hit it twice if possible!
History & Background
This is a legitimate Forest Service trail. It's good for intermediate to advanced riders. All features have go arounds and none are sketchy.
