Description
The Warm Springs Trail is a very popular trail done as a shuttle or using the Hwy 21 to return to the top of the trail. The ride begins near bull trout lake, which also has great camping, starting with a moderate climb to the high point of the ride. From the high point, you'll begin by descending the most challenging part of the trail. There will be a number of steep switchbacks that you'll need to negotiate which can be loose depending on trail moisture.
Once past the switchbacks, the trail continues to descend gradually along the creek with a couple quick up and down sections. As you approach the end of the trail you'll climb away from the river. There are a number of sections of the climb that have serious exposure so make sure to ride within your ability. Once you reach the trail junction with the
Link Trail you'll have one last descent to Hwy 21. There are nice hot springs in the campground just a 1/4 mile up the road if you desire some soaking time.
The route is best looped on the road. The Link trail is very challenging and should only be done by the strongest riders to make this ride into a big loop.
