Overview

Start the Zen Trail by climbing up a long techy slickrock section with advanced features. Keep your eye out for bonus features as you follow the white dots up to the summit as there are some hidden features off both sides of the trail that are worth checking out. Once at the summit follow the trail through a series of fast descents and climbs that eventually lead you back to the car, there are multiple "bail early" exits along the way if you get tired and prefer to pedal the road back to the car.

Description

Head up W Canyon View Dr. on the west side of St. George until it ends and becomes BLM land. You'll drop down from the mesa into the desert where you'll see trails going off in every direction. As you look West from this point, there is a large gap in the land that rises before you.

Access the Zen trail counter-clockwise by staying to the left side of this gap and pedaling the fire road up, staying along the north side of the ridge. The doubletrack eventually turns into trail in about 1/4-mile. Zen starts by climbing up a long, techy slickrock section with advanced features. Keep your eye out for bonus features as you follow the white dots up to the summit, as there are some hidden features off both sides of the trail that are worth checking out.

Eventually you'll crest the mesa and get stunning views of the desert landscape. From this summit, following the Zen trail in the counter-clockwise direction, you'll enjoy a series of fast descents and short climbs that eventually lead you back to the car. There are multiple "bail early" exits along the way if you get tired and prefer to pedal the road back to the car.

There is one spot where the trail splits and you want to stay LEFT to stay on the loop. Going right is a bailout that will take you down to a fire road where you can head north back to where you started.
