Overview
A fun ride above treeline that requires minimal technical skills and rewards riders with endurance and strong lungs. The ride follows an old railroad grade that begins as singletrack but soon turns into a wide road. Lots of cobbles and large rocks on this ride. There is a fair bit of jeep traffic, but it isn't a big detractor and you'll be passing them on your ride down.
Description
Begin up an old overgrown railroad grade that has reverted to singletrack. Pedal your way up and out of the valley and away from I-70 until you pick up the wide and well used portion of the railroad grade.
Here you'll likely encounter off-road jeepers, but the impact to the ride is minimal. Continue up the consistent gentle grade that never really gets steep, but does require consistent pedaling to maintain forward momentum. Climb above tree line and make your way to the old Waldorf Mine where you can enjoy the views and prepare for a fast and enjoyable descent.
