Overview
One section of the older part of Avimor complex, Spring Valley Creek. Super fun pedaling downhill reward for minimal climbing.
Need to Know
Multi-User trail. Watch for hikers, cows, snakes, rocks and potential poison ivy in the creek.
Description
Park near the Merc in Hidden Springs, they have public parking spots. From the Merc go back out to the Seamans Gulch and then head north towards Avimor property.
Broken Horn Road will turn to dirt right before the first climb. You'll climb up over a small hill and then climb a gradual hill into Avimor property.
You'll enter Avimor property once you have passed through the gate. From this point you'll climb to the turn for the
Broken Horn Trail.
Broken Horn Trail is a classic creek drainage trail in the foothills. The trail starts off smooth and fast from the bottom and then hits a long rocky section that requires some bike skills. After the rocks, the trail smooths out again as you climb to the ridge. The trail is well marked along the way, so just stop at each of the junctions if you are unsure.
At mile 5.4, turn left onto Burnt Cat Draw and look for a left shortly thereafter onto
Spring Creek Cutoff. You'll climb to the ridge and connect into the
Spring Valley Creek Trail.
Spring Valley Creek is a classic creek drainage trail. Mostly smooth and fast, this trail is consistent from top to bottom. Keep your eyes out for the rocky sections which are spread along the trail. This trail is also very narrow in sections and the brush is tight around the trail, so expert bike handling is required as you take speed up a couple notches on the downhill.
Once in Avimor you'll ride the road a little ways until you connect onto
Baun's Eye Trail. This is a nice connection trail from the Avimor development up into the trail system. The trail begins on gravel road until it reaches the water tower. From the water tower it is doubletrack the singletrack. Since the trail maintains the ridge there are nice views along the way. Look for an intersection with
Broken Horn Trail, turn right and follow it back to
Broken Horn Road. Retrace your steps back to the start.
Since the community is under construction it is always worth checking the map on the Avimor website in case there are trail closures due to construction.
Good riding!
