Chubb Trail - Flint Quarry Loop

This route utilizes a portion of the Chubb Trail and the Flint Quarry Trail in order to complete a loop through West Tyson Park.

Riding the loop clockwise allows for a downhill ride of the Flint Quarry Trail. Taking the loop counter-clockwise allows for an uphill climb of the Flint Quarry Trail and mostly downhill through the Chubb trail portion of the loop. This is a strenuous ride.

Arrive at the Chubb Trail circle/loop parking lot. The Chubb Trail sign will be clearly visible to the right of the large retaining wall. Trail maps are usually available in a dispenser attached to the sign. Head out on the Chubb Trail and cross over rocky and rooty terrain on your way to a picnic table a few miles out at the top of a large wooded hill where the Chubb and Flint Quarry trails intersect.

Take the Flint Quarry Trail and head mostly downhill to the lower parking lot. About half-way down, take a moment to enjoy the view from an ideally positioned bench. Upon reaching the bottom parking lot, locate the connector trail in the northwest corner of the parking lot and take it through the woods back to your car at the upper parking lot.

Flint Quarry trail weaves in and out of ancient Native American flint pit mines. The high-quality flint was used in the production of arrowhead points.
