22 Tacks is a two mile loop trail built in 2011 for hiking, biking, running and Nordic skiing. It has a graded grassy surface and is quite wide (two ski lane widths) making it the easiest biking trail to ascend to the bench area of the Snow Bowl.
In summer it is enjoyed for a pleasant stroll or an advanced cardio workout by runners or mountain bikers. It begins with a continuous ascent of 200. The trail follows a course of 11 tacks (think sailing turns) until reaching its furthest point and then descends another 11 tacks, hence the name 22 Tacks. There is a cut across halfway up at the end of the steepest part of the climb, and also just before the wetland crossing.
This trail also provides access to the Round the Mountain Trail and the Five Brooks Trail. It was designed to be biked and skied clockwise.
