Overview

Chewacla State Park is a special piece of land located in Central Alabama, just outside the Auburn city limits. Labelled as the last foothill of the Appalachians', Chewacla transports it's visitors to a terrain more similar to those found in North Carolina than Central Alabama.

Our trail system encounters many rock out crops, lake views, creeks, and historic features that make Chewacla State Park a truly unique experience. Our trails range from the very beginner friendly CAMP Trail to our technical, feature heavy Dell's Trail to intermediate singletrack. We are also currently in the process of working on a skills area, bmx track, and flow trail system to add even more biking options.

Need to Know

Daily park entry fee is required. $2 during the week. $3 on the weekend. Annual passes can be purchased for $60.

Description

The Chewacla trail system is composed of 8 separate trails. Many of these trails connect to create one single loop, which has been known as "The Race Loop". While at Chewacla you'll find a number of intermediate trails that can be ridden continuously for about 15 miles. Explore our entire system and keep up to date with our progress at our website and facebook page.

History & Background

Many of the trails in this system utilize old CCC camp areas and the original Auburn Bike Path that at one time lead from Downtown Auburn to Wrights Mill. That bike path was created in the late 1800's. Chewacla was also host of the very first NORBA National race east of the Mississippi River.
