Please don't ride if it's excessively muddy. Please no unauthorized trail building.
Overview
This is the only trail network on the north east side of Cleveland. (West Branch is over an hour and 15 mins from here). Yes it's a short loop but it's got its charm and we are working with the land manager to improve this network and possibly get access to more property closer to civilization.
There are a few very well built bridges in this park and the switchback section is a blast to ride in both directions. Keep an eye out for updates as we address problem areas for some reroutes to this trail network. You can get a good 60 minute 8-mile ride in here if you are willing to reverse direction and ride a loop 3-4 times.
Need to Know
There are no bathrooms at the trailhead, look for the Marathon off of 528 (Exit 212) on 90 and turn there, go past bates road and look for the metroparks sign for the small parking lot.
Description
To get to the trail, take the cinder fire road about .1 mile and look for the doubletrack to the right, make a turn onto the doubletrack and then immediately look for the entrance to the singletrack on your left. Everything else is self explanatory as the trail is well designed and flows quite well.
History & Background
This trail was originally started in the early/mid 90's by a NOMBA member (now CAMBA) who is still helping build and maintain this property. Lake Metroparks "gave" NOMBA the property in order to allow them to put in mountain biking trails, and had largely left the maintenance of this trail network to the riders. Please keep this in mind while you are out on the trails, this is a labor of love for one area resident, and we are all grateful for his contributions.
