Description
This is another of the several trails that come together across from the Sun Valley Lodge. Here, the low end of the Sunrise Loop Trail intersects with the Sun Valley Road Bike Path, Saddle Road Connector Trail, and the
Valley View Trail. The high end of the Sunrise trail connects with
Valley View Trail where riders can choose between a shorter loop, or a longer loop option. The short loop sees riders dropping down on the
Valley View Trail to complete a +/- 1.5-mile ride.
Those looking to do the longer option will choose to keep climbing when they get to the end of Sunrise. This takes them on to the higher portions of
Valley View Trail, then onto
Selgren's Trail, which leads further north to
Elk Trail.
Elk Trail is followed to the crossing of Trail Creek Road and a right turn on the paved Bike Path. The longer loop is completed after approximately 4.7 miles of pedaling.
Sunrise Loop Trail was laid out at a mellow overall grade - around 5%. In places, the grade kicks up briefly.
The trail tread is pretty smooth, but their are quite a few embedded rocks in some areas along the trail.
Views along the route are mainly of the Sun Valley Lodge and resort area to the south and west of the trail network.
