Description
As the most popular access to Wolf Rocks, stay alert for other trail users and yield accordingly. Trail conditions vary with three distinct sections. Intermediate overall, but with a smooth middle section and a very rocky far section. All are relatively level with a gradual overall downhill to the overlook.
This trail starts at the rear parking area of Laurel Summit State Park adjacent to
Fish Run Trail. The first section from the trailhead starts with a short rocky stretch and then meanders over rounded embedded boulders through high laurel to the intersection with Spruce Flats/Hobblebush. Beginners may need to walk portions but it is not too severe to include in a loop with
Picnic Area Trail,
Spruce Flats Trail and
Rector-Eddie Road.
The middle section from
Spruce Flats Trail to the
Rector-Eddie Road connector is smoother with a few isolated rocks and some optional log obstacles along the sides of the trail. This section may be more of a challenge for advanced riders to control their speed while staying alert for other trail users.
The last section from the connector to the overlook is increasingly rocky but can be ridden all the way back to the overlook. An optional multi-boulder obstacle, pictured, is located along the left side of the trail at the small downhill. This requires jumping two crevices and dismount off the third boulder.
