Description

From the parking lot going west, the trail is mostly wandering singletrack with no climbing. The surface is smooth, hard dirt with an occasional rock or depression to avoid. After rounding the west side, the trail opens up into a dirt road. Watch for a singletrack on the left, Cactus Point, that takes you down near the water, then back again to the main trail.

Non-surfaced trails just don't get much easier than this, except for two small sections near the dam.

1. On the far south, the trail is an extra wide dirt road running straight along a fence line, and there are two short, but steep, hills along this stretch. Can you make it without stepping off?

2. Then, immediately after that the trail squeezes into a singletrack and drops to the base of the dam through a short series of intermediate drops and turns.

After getting to the top of "thrash mountain" a photo looking down doesn't even begin to show how steep it really is!

Screen grab off the GoPro. Wish I had this info going down - it would have been a lot more fun as the trail down is not technical!

To keep your spirits high, try not to look at "Thrash Mountain" in the distance, a short but steep rutted hill on the way to the dam.
