A fairly smooth singletrack loop with bridges. It's good for beginners; bypasses around obstacles.

Description

There are two entrances to City Forest, the North Loop trailhead is west of Eastman Rd on the south side of Monroe Rd about a quarter of a mile from the intersection. The Gnu Loop trailhead and easy access to the south Loop is on the west side of Eastman Rd. just north of the county fairgrounds.

Trail maps are available at the trailhead. Routes and rules are posted.

The North Loop starts on cross-country ski trail system, but quickly turns to singletrack. The trails are loose in some corners as the forest is an old set of beaches (sandy). You'll encounter some armoring made from stones and a few 18 inch wide bridges to cross very short wet areas (less than 5ft long). On this loop, there is an A ramp over a downed tree with bypass option. A good beginner ride that works as a warm-up for an experienced rider.

A small bike park is near the end (east of the toboggan run ending) that allows a longer bridge and 2 obstacles.

I was pleasantly surprised to find features along the trail. Many sections were easy enough for a beginner with alternate paths around difficult parts 3mi — 0h 33m
