The Alms House Trail will take you from the Land Trust's Bankhead Parkway Trailhead to Three Caves. The section of the trail just below the Bankhead Parkway Trailhead is steep and full of switchbacks, while the lower end of the trail is comparatively level, although still technical. The trail passes by several waterfalls after the initial descent from the Bankhead Parkway Trailhead.

There are intersections with the Fagan Springs Trail, Toll Gate Trail, Wagon Trail, Sink Hole Trail, Wagon-Alms House Connector, and the Waterline Trail, as you descend towards Three Caves. Although the trail is not as steep after this initial descent, it remains technical, narrow, and rocky in places.

At Three Caves, a short loop will take you around the "bowl" with views of the cave entrances. It should be noted that the "bowl" and the caves are closed to the public, except for events and by permit from the Land Trust. The caves themselves are actually old rock quarries, rather than natural features.
