Description
Tincup Intercept is one of those trails that you use to get somewhere instead of actually enjoying the riding. In this case, you want to get from Tincup Pass to Napolean Pass in short order. If you like adventure riding, bushwhacking at times and the high alpine, this might be a nice experience for you. If you like a well traveled trail, this should most definitely be avoided.
The trail starts off of one of the switchbacks just before you reach the top of Tincup Pass. Keep on the lookout for the trail as it's faint and can easily be missed. Once on the trail keep heading west toward the saddle between PT 12,780 and Fitzpatrick Peak. Don't be alarmed if you do lose the trail and try to stay under the talus field below PT 12,780. The saddle is marked by a very large rock cairn. Once here, the trail traverses around the grassy slopes of Fitzpatrick Peak.
Again, if you lose the trail here, look for rock cairns and head in the general direction toward Napolean Pass. The trail is very grassy here and is barely rideable in spots. Eventually, you'll be able to spot an ATV road going up the west side of Fitzpatrick peak and the steep slopes of Napolean Mountain and be able to see Napolean Pass road for a better visual and where to go.
