Overview

The Magnificent 7 trails are part of the exciting singletrack renaissance in Moab. The area features a network of trails that link the upper and lower ends of Gemini Bridges Road and can be ridden as a point-to-point with a shuttle (leaving on vehicle at HWY 313 and Gemini Bridges Rd. and Potash Rd Jay Cee Park Campground), near the or as different loops.

Mag 7 is named for the 7 trails it links together into one spectacular traverse: Getaway, Bull Run, Arth's Corner, Little Canyon, Gold Bar Rim, Golden Spike, Poison Spider, and Portal. This point-to-point ride is a ledgy, fast and fun experience with the epic technical and exposed Portal decent at the end

Need to Know

The ride is done as a point-to-point from the upper end of Gemini Bridges Road at Hwy 313. It minimizes climbing and maximizes the downhill fun.

Numerous shuttle companies operate in Moab, so hitching a ride is as easy as making a reservation and slapping down some cash.

There are a few options for getting back to Moab:
- Park a vehicle at the Gemini Bridges Trailhead on Hwy 191
- Park a vehicle at the Courthouse Wash Trailhead on Hwy 191 (just south of the Arches National Park entrance)
- Ride the Moab Canyon Paved Path back to Moab

If you're riding back to Moab via the bike path consider linking to the Bar M Loops to extend your singletrack experience.

Description

The first part of the Mag 7 ride starts on Getaway from the upper lot or Bull Run from the lower lot with a slow and steady descent to a small canyon rim. This will give you a feel for the rest of the singletrack on the ride. The route ducks and dives over the slickrock and along bits of sand-packed singletrack.

The canyon rim transitions from your left side to your right side about a third of the way into Bull Run. The canyon you'll see now is much larger than the previous one.

There's a section of road to navigate and then lots more rolling and ledgy slickrock to cover. The views into the canyon are spectacular now.

After the second road crossing, the slickrock continues before a longer stretch of sandy singletrack. The trail will come to the Gemini Bridges Road where a new exstention of singletrack continues on the other side to quickly arrive at the intersection with Great Escape, Getaway and Arth's Corner. Great Escape is not part of the Mag 7, but can be ridden as an option.

Arth's Corner starts to your right at a small trailhead and quickly jumps back into the slickrock and singletrack you've become accustomed to higher on the route.

Little Canyon singletrack is great with ledges and slickrock to ride on. At the end of Little Canyon, you'll find Gold Bar Rim singletrack.

From here, the trail is wavy slickrock for the most part, just follow the painted stripes as a general guideline. The Gold Bar singletrack will end on top of the ridge where the Gold Bar Rim trail and Golden Spike Jeep Road split.

Continue on the Gold Bar Rim trail following the white painted lines near the ridge and cliff overlooking the valley and HWY 191, this parts becomes much more ledgy and technical. From here you'll follow the white painted lines on slick rock going down shelves and drops, or the Blue Dot trail (unofficially named) along the rim overlooking HWY 191 as the advanced lines, This is a narly section with descent technicals. You can also drop down and ride the Golden Spike Jeep Road if you want an easier and less technical ride, but it does have more elevation change and longer milage.

You'll end up on the Poison Spider connector trail to the proline/double black diamond rated Portal.

The Portal trail can be deadly. Walk your bike where it tells you to. One false move and you are falling to your death! This is also a very steep and technical decent most of the way to the end. The end of this trail will put you on Potash Road where you left one vehicle to shuttle back to the beginning.
