Riding from north to south (as mapped), Wild West Ridge serves up a great switchbacking climb before rolling over the ridge to surf down a stellar set of switchbacks and S-turns.

From June Creek, take a right off the gravel trail to dive down and back up a drainage to reach the trailhead sign and the true beginning of the trail. Go ahead and get into your climbing gears here, as the trail will continue to climb for roughly a mile before you're offered a respite and downhill. Don't worry though—as mapped, this trail provides climbing grades that are far more manageable than travelling south-to-north.

Continuing from the sign, the trail navigates loose football-sized rocks at first, but only through the first switchback. After this, expect a buff tread and gentle switchbacks as you spin your way to the top.

After cresting the hill, drop your seat, open up your suspension, and get ready for a mile of sweet, sweet descending. From the get-go, enjoy a steep straightaway atop the ridge before settling into a set of bermed, tight switchbacks.

Once the switchbacks have ceased, get ready to quite literally ride the nose of the ridgeline, swooping back and forth over the crest like you'd see in a freeride film. Enjoy this dusty bliss as long as it lasts, as eventually the trail falls to one side of the ridge, and gently flows down to the junction with the Avon Singletree Connector (ASC).
