A pleasant ride through a managed pine forest. All doubletrack or dirt road, not too curvy.

The park is open sunrise to sunset. Pedestrians have right-of-way, which is no problem since the "trail" is so wide.

Description

This is mostly hardpack dirt road and some doubletrack, but there are some sandy areas and a mile or so of pine-bark mulch surface. There are very few sharp curves so you can ride most if not all of it at full-throttle. It's a good cardio exercise trail and a lousy skills trail.

The scenery is OK, but not great. It might be prettier in the summer when the undergrowth is greener. A huge grove of thinned pines lets you see a lot of real estate at once and how flat Florida really is.

There is a total of 24 miles of very flat dirt doubletrack in this park. Pick up a free map at the office. The Blue trail does not have the best scenery, but overall, the park is quite beautiful. There are some boardwalks going through cypress swamps and some old pine growth. There are numerous stations where the processed sewage from Panama City Beach is discharged keeping everything watered and green -- don't worry, the water at this stage is crystal clear and does not smell.

Check out the park's website for more information.

Very easy ride. Not much cover from the sun. Bring plenty of sunscreen and water.
