Can be snow covered in the winter.
Overview
This ride puts together a number of trails in the Whistler system including
A River Runs Through It,
High Society,
Three Birds, Danimal, and Sprout. Since this is Whistler, be aware that double black actually involves advanced bike skills.
Description
This ride begins at the small parking lot at the end of Lorimer Rd, but there are a number of other ways to begin the ride. Using the Valley Trail, this ride would be easy to access from the Whistler Village.
The ride begins with a ride on an old logging road
Emerald Forest Connector) which takes you to the start of
A River Runs Through It.
A River Runs Through It is the first technical trail in this loop and is a good introduction to the system. The trails only get harder from here so make sure you are comfortable with
A River Runs Through It before moving on.
There is some water fountains in Alta park at the end of
A River Runs Through It so fill up if you need to. From here you'll climb on the
Scotia Creek Climb and then up some pavement to the water tank. Go beyond the water tank and you'll find
Darwin's Trail and the last section of serious climbing. Once at the top you'll come to the
Rainbow-Sproat Flank trail.
Now you'll traverse for a short while and then drop into
High Society. From here down the trails are very challenging with lot of long rock faces and nasty roots. Take breaks and enjoy as you flow from
High Society to
Three Birds and then
Danimal Middle finally finishing up with
Danimal North. There are lots of combinations to mix things up before heading back to town on the Valley Trail.
