Dogs Leashed
Can be muddy during and just after a rain but clears up quickly.
Description
The trail can be ridden clockwise or counter-clockwise. It has two trail heads separated by a few hundred feet of paved road. There are several hike-in or bike-in campsites on the east and west sides. These must be reserved on a first-come/first-served basis at the park office on top of the mountain. The campsites include tent pads, lantern hangers, a picnic table and fire ring.
The trail follows an a narrow roadbed around the mountain with many spots to get great views of the Arkansas River Valley on the north side and the Petit Jean River Valley on the south side.
The road to the top of the mountain is steep and curved, use care when heading to or leaving the trails. You'll find them near the top with the first trailhead on the left and the second just past the park sign on the right. The trail starts beyond the gate at either parking area.
A great place to take someone who wants to try mountain biking for the first time. After your ride enjoy the hiking trails on top of the mountain. Camping and cabin rentals is year round and the pool is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
