Overview

This loop makes you earn the trip down Los Pinetos with a tough fire road climb that never lets up. The upper section is shaded by trees and there's lots of wall rides, berms, and even some jumps if you know where to look.

Do this early in the morning if possible and try to beat the hikers out because they like to climb up Los Pinetos and having to dodge them can kill the fun.

Need to Know

You can avoid all the road riding on this trip by parking one car at the Placerita Nature Center and then parking the other at the Newhall Park and Ride.

Description

Make your way up the biggest climb in the area, from the Newhall Park and ride to Wilson Canyon Saddle. Once you get there unlock your suspension, drop your seatpost and get ready to shred some downhill.

Drop onto the Los Pinetos trail and after a fast, fun, and challenging descent, you'll make a left which pops you onto a quick run down the Placerita Canyon Trail until you reach the Nature Center parking lot. From here, turn left onto Placerita Canyon Rd. and head back towards CA-14. Go under the overpass and turn left at the light. Head down a little further to Newhall Rd., turn left, head back under the overpass and you'll be back at your car!

Nice long downhill side. I wasn't expecting the street riding in the end as it got dark. And the uphill hurt me. No, really, I wasn't right next day 12.3mi — 1h 58m
