Description

The Boy Scout Loop is a 1.1 mile extension of the Red and White which adds some intermediate skill technical up or downhill, depending on which way you choose to travel. The extension is all singletrack and brings you down by the river. If you choose to add the Boy Scout Loop to the Red and White, it will add .5 mile to the overall distance for a total of 3 miles.

If you are biking clockwise on the Red and White, you'll find the turn to the Boy Scout Loop at about the 1.5 mile mark, about 1/8 of a mile after leaving the wildlife opening on the doubletrack service road. The road will make a turn to the right, which would continue on the Red and White, and the Boy Scout Loop is the singletrack trail that goes straight ahead and steeply down the hill. There are lots of humps down the hill, not really designed for jumping, but you may be able to have some fun with a few of them.

This will take you down by the river and there will be two sharp and fairly short up hills and downhills while on the river level and then it is time to climb back out.

The climb out is quite challenging with lots of roots and very little rest. However, once you get to the top, you enjoy a nice leisurely singletrack, a fast downhill, short uphill, and then you merge back onto the Red and White. Keep going straight and you'll get back to the parking area.

If you are biking counterclockwise on the Red and White, you'll fork to the right on the singletrack at about .75 mile in from the parking lot. It is fun and challenging from either direction.
