Overview

This is the best ride in the Pinedale area, without a doubt! Starting as rolling cross-country, it drops into flowy and fast downhill with natural and man-made features. It's almost all singletrack, and the alpine scenery is epic. There is one rocky, loose section where you'll want to ride the breaks, but for the most part you can run wide open. Occasionally, due to poor trail etiquette, some users ride the trail when it's muddy and the tread can get rutted.

Need to Know

Small creek crossing at 1 mi/1.5 mi. Best done as a shuttle from Elk Hart park and p/u at White Pine Ski Area. The bottom mile is two track to base of White Pine... for now.

Description

Start from the USFS A-frame and head right up the dirt road to your right for a couple hundred yards to an old outbuilding. The trail begins to the right of said outbuilding.

Stay straight through the technical, rocky uphill section that eventually leads to open meadow (wet early) and continue on the trail. There is one intersection at the top of downhill section with a sign stating 'Trail" and an arrow pointing left. Continue right, do not go left. The trail to the left needs deadfall work before it will be rideable. All features on this trail can be ridden around easily.

History & Background

I believe this was an old logging/fire road in the past. Now it's now largely singletrack.
