Description
Park at the trailhead for
Trail #25A and Hop Canyon Trail #25. Trail #25 is visible to the south while the sign for
Trail #25A is across the road to the north.
Hop Canyon Trail #25 can be ridden both directions. It is most enjoyable as a downhill trail and is typically ridden as a loop starting up
Trail #25A, connecting to
North Baldy Trail #8, then down Trail #25.
The trail has a good flow, is easy to follow, and is a ripping good time.
From the top of the trail, there is a meadow crossing and a short climb to the start of the switchbacks. The switchbacks are generally well maintained and wide enough for bicycles. The tread of the trail alternates between rocks and packed pine needles. Be mindful of the rocks, there have been plenty of pinch flats and cut side walls on this ride. The trail gets looser as you approach the final switchbacks leading to the parking lot. Be especially mindful of the second fence and gate crossing the trail. It can trip unprepared riders.
