Description

This trail is a loop off the Eastern Powerline to Lake trail. The north entrance is about a 1/3 the way down from the powerline. The southern exit is about 1/2 way down from the power lines. Keep an eye out since the entrance is a little hard to locate, especially in the fall. There is a photo of the entrance with a brown stake where the stickers have all fallen off.

Taking the trail in the southbound direction has a lot of technical climbing with brief descents. Ridden this direction, the trail is relentless. Be prepared, because it's nearly impossible to catch your breath unless you stop. For all of its difficulty, the trails is a techy riders dream.

If busting your lungs isn't on the checklist for the day, ride this trail northbound for an easier time. It averages more downhill, with a steep uphill at the end to get back on top of the ridge. With that said, southbound was the trail designers intent.

The grade is over 15% downhill at times. Walking features to investigate their characteristics is recommended before hitting this trail hard and fast. There is a border collie in some of the photos for perspective, however, I feel the photos do not do the size of the obstacles justice. Most boulders are moss covered and can be very slippery at times. Be warned that there are not many bypasses. There are no drops, just relentless tech.

Irrelevant of the direction you ride this trail, it connects into the Eastern Powerline to Lake trail. You can take the Eastern Powerline to Lake trail to connect to other trails, most notably the Downhill Trail - Southbound Only trail, as after all, these two techy trails are why you're headed to Moraine State Park.
