Sunshine Kitty is arguably one of the most diverse and interesting segments on the Penitente Network. Designed with bikes in mind, this trail serpentines from the bottom of Witches Canyon (trail confidence marker #11) to the highest point on the network at its connection with the Rock Drops trail (trail confidence marker #9). A significant amount of the trail crawls over long sections of slickrock.

Many riders use this trail as a sustained climb to access the fast descent on Rock Drops. The continuous downhill grade also makes it an incredibly fun, moderately technical descent when riding from West to East.

Be sure to stop every once in a while and catch a glance across the San Luis Valley at the Sangre de Cristo range!
