Overview
This is the only mountain bike trail I know of in the area. It is forested and the trail is made of good compact bark with very few obstacles, and only a couple of slightly steep parts.
There are many amenities in the park, which makes this an ideal spot for a day of fun. Amenities include a variety of barbecue grills, a boat ramp where many enjoy fishing, a pavilion, picnic area, and vault toilets. Potable water is also available.
Need to Know
A parking permit is required, which will cost you $4 daily or an annual pass is available for $30.
Description
From the parking lot, you cannot see the trail. Ride south across the top of the dam and find the start of the trail.
Once under the forest canopy, you'll find lots of ferns and logs and small native flowers, like trillium. There are a couple of steep parts at the beginning, but it gets easier as you go. There are two or three bridges to cross that can be a little slick, but the bits of flowing water are pretty.
The local mountain bike club is working on extending the trail along the north side of the reservoir with an ultimate goal of creating a loop. The trail extends to the east day use area (the beach). Currently, it is necessary to ride on the gravel road to to get around the wetland.
