Overview

This Big River loop has a little of everything from fast narrow switchbacks, open fields, and roller coaster drops/climbs to technical rock gardens.

Description

This loop begins with the DNA Trail. The entrance is on the north (right) side of the Park and Ride parking lot. The trail starts as a mostly smooth, fast, rolling switchback trail looping around to the west and then south until you reach Division Street.

The loop then picks up with the Bottle Trail slightly to the east (left) after crossing the street. After a short distance, turn right onto the Lego Trail which runs west turning southwest until it reaches a small dirt road. Take a right here and your first left on Run In / Run On Trail.

There is an almost immediate fork but stay right to remain on the Run In / Run On Trail. This is another fast flowing switch back trail. Run In / Run On Trail eventually turns south and crosses another trail, becoming the Halloween Trail.

Halloween Trail, like Run In / Run On Trail, turns left and right and back again but ultimately leads west before the loop turns left on the Hoover Trail. This trail turns to the south and spills out on a dirt road (New London Turnpike).

Across the dirt road, the trail picks up on the Tarbucket Trail leading north east and then turning south and becoming the Dead Shed Trail. Dead Shed turns back south east and leads back to a somewhat flat open area.

At this point, the loop turns right and heads downhill but quickly turns left to bring you through a great roller coaster section. Before a somewhat technical climb you can opt to turn left into The Maze Trail, or continue up the hill to lead to the Pump House Trail.

The Pump House Trail is a long, somewhat flat, section that leads northeast again for a bit. After some time, the loop turns right - first singletrack on the right. This unlisted trail starts east, but take your first trail on the right heading south. This will loop up to the Venom Trail.

Take a right onto the Venom Trail and head up the mostly technical climb before taking a right on Don's Down & Out. Don's Down & Out is a somewhat technical trail zig-zagging south, east and back south where it immediately ends at Ring Road Trail. Turn left here and take your first left heading back north and to a different section of the Venom Trail.

Turn left onto Venom Trail and your first right on to Upper Spider heading north. After a very brief time on Upper Spider, turn left, heading west on Lower Spider before eventually keeping right to transition to Foster's Folly going north. Foster's Folly leads you back to the old New London Turnpike. Cross over this dirt road to pick up the Bottle Trail going north back to Division Street.

The last section is a repeat of the DNA Trail. The final loop begins with leading back to the Park and Ride lot.
