Family Friendly For the adventurous only. The top section of the loop would be a nice place to enjoy a picnic lunch. However, the climb in/out is strenuous and not recommended for children.

Description

There are several ways to get onto the loop. Heading down Chinquapin Trail you'll merge onto Eucalyptus Loop. The other ways to get on to the loop are from the southern part of the park either from Wilder Ridge Loop near Enchanted Loop or from Old Cabin on the eastern part of the park. If you come up Twin Oaks you can take Bobcat Trail to join up with Eucalyptus Loop.

If you go left from the Chinquapin Trail, you should see an area with a couple of park benches and a lone stand of tail trees. Here you can relax and enjoy the stunning view of the Monterey Bay.

The western part of the loop has a couple of really fun downhill sections. It is easy to get going pretty fast down these sections. Some of the turns can get slippery with loose gravel and ruts in the road. The eastern side has a few more twists and turns in the road but is an easier climb than the western side.

If you descend the western side of this loop, you'll end up at Enchanted Loop. Coming down the eastern side you can pick up Old Cabin or continue down to the tree covered area with some nice singletrack that also eventually joins up with Enchanted Loop.

When you get to the bridge on Eucalyptus Loop, get ready for a short punchy upward section. Normally the creek is dry during the summer and fall.
