Description

The Yakima mine trail is a lightly maintained route that provides a nice remote and primitive experience. There are a number of intact old mining structures along the route, so it is a nice ride accompanied by a trip back in history to the days of the 1860 gold mining rush around Florence.

You'll start in some open pine forest and will be on a lot of sidehills. As you leave the pine forest and approach the Milner Trail you'll need to keep your eyes out for the correct trail. There can be a lot of grazing activity in the area so don't be tempted by that goat path. The trail is perched on the side of the mountain side with a long way down to go, so make sure you stay focused. There are ample technical rock sections once you leave the forest.

Connect this trail with the Milner Trail and the Lower Salmon River Trail to make a great loop and throw in a visit to the Cable Car Hot Springs.
