Description

This portion of the Maricopa Trail goes from N New River rd to the first gate, and eventually comes to an end near Anthem. Along the way, riders will approach I-17 on gentle singletrack.

Near the western side of this trail, the trail will be almost flat. This side isnt strenuous, and there arent many obstacles to over come. There will be a slow, smooth ascent as you head closer to I-17.

As you continue your gentle climb, the terrain will get a bit more rolling, and youll have some ups and downs that add interest. Along this eastern portion, there will also be a number of small wash crossings, as well as one small creek crossing. Though these portions are dry 99% of the time, rains in Arizona often result in flash floods, so avoid use during or immediately following a rain storm.
