Dogs Leashed
Overview
This route uses all of the trails in the Meyer Ranch system, with an extra upper loop to add a few more miles.
Need to Know
During the winter the trail is on the north facing slope. Thus the snow will stick around and make for a great fat bike ride while most of the other trails in the area are still full of mud. There is one section of rocks near the top of the
Old Ski Run Trail just before the start of the lollipop which is the only technical section of the trail. However, most intermediate riders will not have any issues.
Description
Starting from the parking lot, many locals prefer to climb the
Owl's Perch Trail, towards the west. You'll then reach a junction with the Lodgepole Loop, where you'll head southwest, leaving the
Owl's Perch Trail behind you.
Once on the Lodgepole Loop, you'll continue heading towards the west. You'll follow this one until you reach a second junction with the
Sunny Aspen Trail. You'll only be on
Sunny Aspen for a short ways, before a third intersection will bring you to the
Old Ski Run Trail. No matter which direction you take the last climbs on
Sunny Aspen to the
Old Ski Run Trail, it will make the thighs and lungs burn. But after that, the climbs level out a bit for the rest of the ride. Make a right onto the
Old Ski Run Trail, and take it all the way to the loop in the end.
From there, you'll head back down the
Old Ski Run Trail, reach the eastern branch of
Sunny Aspen, and from there carry on to the eastern branch of the Lodgepole Loop.
Once you've tackled that, it's a short jaunt out on the
Owl's Perch Trail.
