Overview

This is a very narrow and sandy trail built specifically for fat bikes. There isn't much elevation gain on this loop, but it does have a couple of steep climbs. It's a quick loop for a good workout.

Need to Know

There's lots of sand on this desert trail system. Bring your fat bike with at least 3 inch wide tires or bigger and use a low psi. 5 inch wide tires work best out here.

Bring cash for The Point Grill for an excellent after-ride meal and drinks. Great place to hang out and enjoy the views of the Sandia Mountains and a perfect place to watch the monsoon thunder storms roll over the city.

Lastly, there's tons of cacti along the edges of this narrow trail so you need precision and expert riding skills. Monsoon season is the best time to ride this area after the rains have moistened the sand.

Description

This trail provides up to a 7.5-mile loop when you connect the other singletrack trails in the Mariposa Fatbike System. It is best ridden with 3.0 tires or fatter with very low pressure as to preserve the quality of the trail tread. This ride is perfect for fat bikes because of all the sand but is not beginner-friendly. The loop should be ridden clockwise, starting from The Point Grill. The map (see photo) also shows parking.

This is a fun, easy/beginner cross country trail. Highly recommend riding the morning after a rain, as it definitely has several very sandy spots. 7mi

Hard to find the trail but once you do it's fun. Wish there were more signage and updates to tell you exactly where to park and ride out to begin trai 6.2mi — 2h 00m

This system is bigger than meets the eye. There are over 130 miles of singletrack trails in this area. The Trailfork app is an asset here. 36mi — 4h 30m
