Description

Gray Whale Cove State Beach has a large parking area on the east side of Highway 1 with overflow parking. The trail starts directly eastward and is a bit steep at first, then winds its way along the brush-covered hillside parallel to the highway, climbing gradually to connect with the Old Pedro Mountain Road. Fairly wide and smooth, this trail gets a lot of hiker use and the section south of the turnoff to Old Pedro Mountain Road is hiker-only.
