Overview
The amazing
Sidewinder Trail can be done as a loop, using nearby county roads that roughly parallel Sidewinder.
Need to Know
There are no legal cut-off roads between H75 and Ute Rd. (north half of this loop). It may be tempting to find a shorter route, but these trespass across private land. Please don't do this.
Description
This is the legal route to make a loop from
Sidewinder Trail, and also allows access to different segments of
Sidewinder Trail. The suggested start is at
Eagle Valley Trail trailhead.
From this trailhead, ride 1/4 mile back (west) to Peach Valley Rd. Go right, and follow Peach Valley Rd. north about 14.5 miles. Although there are a few short climbs at the start, it's a nice mostly downhill spin. Wear warm layers if it's cold. At 14.5 miles, take a right onto the paved 2200 Rd. Go about a mile, then take a right onto H75 (dirt).
It's only 3 miles to the north Sidewinder Trailhead, but this slightly uphill road might be the crux of the entire ride, at least psychologically. At the north
Sidewinder Trail trailhead, shed your layers and get ready for 19 miles of technical singletrack bliss.
At the end of Sidewinder, continue on a short section of
Sunset Rocks Trail to
Eagle Valley Trail. This is a truly unique little canyon chute that narrows to a single bike width towards the bottom. The trail ends right where you parked.
From north to south, many roads connect to
Sidewinder Trail: H75 Rd., Ute Rd., Dinosaur Rd., Duncan Rd., Bobcat, Wave Rd., and
Eagle Road. All of these connect to the Peach Valley/2200 Rd. route to allow shorter loops.
