Description

This is a very wide gravel/dirt surface trail that connects Old Reedy Creek Road on the western side of Umstead State Park in Cary to the southeastern entrance at the intersection of Reedy Creek Road and Trenton Road in Raleigh.

If starting on the western side, it reaches an observation point for the RDU airport after a little more than a mile, just before making a sharp turn to the east. It then passes a picnic area and cemetery before proceeding down a moderately steep grade and reaching a bridge over Crabtree Creek and Reedy Creek Lake at about 4 miles.

At the end of the trail on the southeastern side of the park, a greenway continues along Reedy Creek Road to the North Carolina Museum of Art, which has a very nice park and outdoor art exhibits.
