Description

This trail is a must-see at the Copper Harbor Trails system. The difficulty can be thought of in two ways here. One section of the trail is not difficult to ride, but is visually spectacular since it is along the edge of the Brockway Mountain ridge, and is truly "On The Edge." This makes it a bit scary the first time through, but after a few runs, you forget all about the primal fear of heights and become thrilled by the fact that you rode it! This is a popular photo-op spot.

The other section of trail really is a bit difficult for the novice and should be taken seriously. This section has a wondrous raised section of serpentine plank bridges that can be mastered with a little practice. The trail is located at the top of Brockway Mountain, and can be checked out on foot easily at either the connection to The Flow trail on Brockway Mountain Drive by parking at the lookout on the road (Keweenaw Adventure Company also does shuttle runs to this drop off location), or at the top of the serpentine bridge by walking a bit to the east on the same road.

Starting at intersection #6 at the top of Woopidy Woo will have you heading uphill to a 10-foot, steep uphill section of trail that is rock armored. This can be a trick to get up for some. Right after, you'll be approaching the serpentine bridge from the bottom end. The first turn is tight and steeper than the remainder. Get past this and you are home free for the rest of the uphill switchbacks on the bridge.

At the top of the bridge, you are 30 feet from the roadway, continue on the trail westward and you'll arrive at the edge. You'll be riding close to the edge of a cliff face. Take it easy and continue along the ridge until you pop onto the paved road at intersection #32, which is the top of The Flow trail.

Stop and take it all in. This overlook is fantastic! Turn around and do On The Edge in reverse and go down the serpentine bridge for a short, fun run. Head back again to do The Flow trail for endless fun in a small area.
