Description

From Highway 24, turn south on Highway 67 and drive about four miles. On the right (west) side of the road will be the entrance to Mueller State Park. A fee is required at the entrance. Drive to the end of the paved loop and the parking is available at the trailhead.

The loop begins counterclockwise and is easy doubletrack. There are many alternative trails along the way, but this loop follows Trail 17. The path winds through aspen and pine groves and grassy meadows.

At the northernmost point of the trail an old barn with equipment still stands. Further along the trail, the path runs by the Cheesman Ranch. The trail then climbs back to the trailhead, winding between Pikes granite boulders.

Hikers and horses can also be encountered on the trail. Be courteous and yield right of way.
