Overview
Climb this isolated mountain of 2,300 ft in 6.3 miles.
Need to Know
The trail faces the rising sun so it gets sun almost all day. It gets very hot, very early.
Description
From the parking lot, follow the dirt road towards the mountain and over the cattle guard. From the marker, it turns into singletrack. At mile .5, you come upon a "y", stay to the right. Keep going for another 1.7 miles until you come to another "y". You have the option to keep going up the mountain or heading down to the trailhead.
A short steep switchback section greets you after the "y". A bench at the top of this little hill is a welcome resting place. After this, the trail meets the road and you turn right to go up. It seems like this road doesn't end... but fear not, it does after 1.25 miles where you turn left and hit the singletrack again.
Enjoy the views as you climb the steepest sections of this trail. Don't worry about getting lost, the trail doesn't have alternate routes.
Near the top, the singletrack ends, take a right onto the dirt road for last .25 miles of climbing to the top.
Go down the way you came but at mile 10.5, take a right to go back to the trailhead.
History & Background
