The trail is pretty smooth and doesn't feature any mandatory bike park features. It's also not very steep, making it a good option for beginner/intermediate riders.
This is a two-way trail that's also open to hikers. It's easy to forget your trail etiquette when you've been riding downhill bike-only trails all day, so make sure you snap back to reality before dropping in to Pioneer.
Description
From the top of the gondola, go straight and descend on the
Chisholm Trail for a short time to a big 4-way junction. Look for Pioneer on your left.
The trail is nicely bench-cut and descends along a pretty mellow contour that leads through patches of forest and across open ski runs. After the second set of switchbacks, there's a short climb before more of the same flowy side-hilling.
The trail has very few technical obstacles and flows nicely until the next little punchy climb. After this ascent, it's all downhill, through tons of tight, often blown-out switchbacks. Once you're sufficiently dizzy from these switchbacks, you'll hit a junction with
Creekside and
Zig Zag Connector. Take
Creekside for a technical challenge or
Zig Zag for a mellow cruise.
