Special urban deer archery and crossbow season. This season, which may be implemented within incorporated limits of a city, town or village, opens 21 days prior to the opening of the statewide deer archery season and closes on the last day in December. Bikers are cautioned to stay on marked trails during this time.
Overview
Mostly flat loop with some challenging climbs and occasional features. Omit the power line climb and
Pappas trail for a super beginner friendly ride.
Description
Once you have entered the park, the system starts with a nice warm-up on
Newell, an easy gravel trail a short ways before turning right onto
Colombo (another gravel trail).
A 0.1 miles along
Colombo, enter
Dean on the left.
Dean offers a slight elevation change and some views of the wetlands contained within the park. There can be some drainage issues on the upper section, so be mindful of the trail conditions. You'll exit
Dean and cross
Colombo again; as you cross
Colombo, the trail becomes
Albright. After a brief climb and a few rocky features, you'll come to a power line clearing; keep following
Albright to the right.
Albright becomes
Underwood; take this trail and follow it onto
Allmen to catch the entrance to
Pappas (left across the drainage). The
Pappas Trail is a short climb to a benched cut sidehill over rocky terrain. This is a relatively scenic section with the trail winding above and below an impressively large slab of rock. The
Pappas trail is beginner friendly, but it does contain tight singletrack on a steep hillside. If this is not in your comfort zone, continue on
Allmen until you catch
Gainer instead.
Coming off
Pappas you'll cross
Allmen and enter directly into
Gainer.
Gainer features a very short climb to a fun downhill and rock garden.
Gainer will exit left onto
Newell and returns you to the park trailhead.
