It starts off fast and ends up twisty, but it's neither murky nor marshy, even in the rain.

Description

The Murky Marsh starts off with a bang! You are immediately dumped into a mile-long pump section that offers plenty of opportunities to get big air if you are skilled or just big speed if you are willed.

Every time I fly down the section I call it the "mile that makes me smile." Right at the end, there is a brown trail marker with a yellow blaze on it. It's a warning marker that is letting you know that you are 100 feet from a tight, fast hairpin. Hit the brakes early then release and ride the berm through the corner into the marshy area.

Although this is a heavily forested area, it's really not marshy and not too murky. In the late evenings, it does get dark and in the rain it does get muddy. The lower section is full of roots, troughs, turns, rocks and trees. Once you get accustomed to the flow, pump hard into the troughs and zip through the trees. It's a very fun area where the terrain and obstacles change rapidly, keeping riders on their toes.

At the switchback, you start to pay for the fun and the climb begins. It's never too steep but it stays with you for a bit. Once you cross the second wooden bridge, you'll know the steepest part and the end are ( Rolling Ridge) in sight. From this point, instead of heading home, I often turn left and hit Pogo's Place and Murky Marsh again then head home.
