Overview
A clockwise loop on the south side of Redbird State Recreation area with a combination of singletrack and doubletrack.
Need to Know
This is a motorized trail system that is also open to non-motorized users. $10 daily vehicle fee applies.
Description
Start the ride at the trailhead off of County Rd 350 N. From the parking area, head south on
Trail #7 Outer Loop, a good warm-up trail with small hills and big turns through open forest. Stay right to do the inner loop on
Trail #7 Inner Loop and then right again to connect with
Trail #0.
Turn left here and head south again on doubletrack to an intersection with
Trail #4. Bear left again and wind your way around on tight turns and steep hills through dense forest. When the trail loops back on itself, stay left to pedal an outer loop.
At
Redbird SRA - 1, head north and parallel the railroad tracks briefly before turning east. This section of the ride has many ups and downs on steep terrain.
Eventually,
Redbird SRA - 1 winds its way to
Redbird SRA - 8, stay left and pedal north along a small ridge with views of a lake. Connect with
Redbird SRA - 6 and drop down to a challenging singletrack benched into the hillside. The grades are steep and the corridor is tight as you loop your way back around to the trailhead to finish the ride.
