Description

Do not let the fact that this is a jeep road dissuade you from experiencing this fast descent that is technical in spots many creek crossings. Many of these crossings can be deep and challenging.

This road begins at a nice parking area just off of Hwy 15 at the Ben Lilly Memorial. From there, head down the pavement until you hit the Bear Creek Road on your right. Most of this route consists of a descent and multiple creek crossings. The creek crossings begin shortly after passing a pond at the mouth of Cherry Creek Canyon. The water levels tend to be high after rainfall during the late summer-early fall monsoons, but you can expect water to flow through the creek year round.

Eventually, the road turns into Little Walnut Road and can be ridden all the way to the Gomez Peak/Little Walnut Trail system if desired. However, this road is often not ridden that far as its main purpose it to allow access to Sycamore Canyon Trail and the scenic Devil's Garden areas.

Rode this the opposite direction via the Jeep Route en route to Highway 15. A pleasant climb through canyon bottom with old mine infrastructure. 18.6mi — 2h 45m
