Description
Rattlesnake Gulch is a short but steep lollipop located in Eldorado Canyon State Park. It is the only trail within the park open to mountain bikes. Because the connecting
Fowler Trail from the
Doudy Draw system is not open to bikes, riders must enter through the park gates and pay the $4/day park pass for riding in, or the $9 vehicle pass.
Note that parking fills up rapidly on the weekends. Please only park in legal spots in the park or at other South Boulder trailheads like
Doudy Draw or Marshall Mesa. There is no legal parking in town or at the pool.
The trail itself is heavily hiked on the weekends. With an average grade of 10% over loose soil, it's a lung busting climb. The trail climbs more gradually in the counter-clockwise direction. While the trail doesn't offer the most exciting trail features, it does offer some great views of Eldorado Canyon and the Continental Divide.
