Overview

This is a fun loop on dirt roads above Big Pine that climbs up Little Pine Creek (9S102) to 10S101 and descends with views of the Owens Valley and dramatic Crater Mountain along McMurry Meadows Road.

Description

Park on McMurry Meadows Road (unpaved) using one of the pull-offs just off of Glacier Lodge Road.

From there, head up Little Pine Creek (9S102), a rough 4WD road for three miles at which point you'll stay left on the main road and climb into the hills to the south. At 3.9 miles, stay left again on 10S101 until mile five where you'll intersect with the main McMurry Meadows Road which will return you to your car.

This loop can also be reversed for a very fun descent along Little Pine Creek. You can also extend the route by taking 33E306 to McMurry Meadows Road further south of 10S101.

See the Sage to Summit description for more info.

We ran the loop. It was beautiful. Great run, doesn't seem like it would be a fun bike ride. 9.2mi — 1h 43m
