This is an informal and unmarked, yet legal, trail within Michaux State Forest. This trail, and others that are nearby, are currently under assessment by the land manager toward a more static and stewarded trail system. Cutting a new trail or re-routing is considered illegal. As such, do not cut new trails without approval, observe potential future trail closings and official re-routing, and minimize your impact while riding. Avoid riding during PA hunting seasons.
Description
The ride is relatively smooth for this area with gentle grades and relatively few and small rocks. It starts out with few easily-cleared boulders and winds through a nicely canopied forest.
About 3/4 of the way through, turn left at the doubletrack, through a small clearing, and then look for a trail on the right. The final portion of the trail continues through a new clear-cut area that spits you back out onto the gravel road.
Beware of the small connector trails that send you directly back to Ridge Road. Like most trails along the ridge, this tends to dry out quickly after rainfall, but tends to hold onto the last bits of snow in the winter.
