Dogs Off-leash
Description
The outbound section descends northwest from the top of Tassel Hill Peak #1 into a fairly level valley and eventually traverses up an easy grade along the shoulder of Peak #2. Once the Peak #2 high point is reached, the trail follows the ridge for a while before dropping into the next valley. From the valley bottom, the trail begins to climb again and after the height of land is reached, the trail eventually breaks into an open grassy area. The open area is the highest point along the ridge and in Oneida County. Views looking north to the Mohawk Valley are excellent.
To ride the return loop, continue northwest to where the wide grassy area begins to narrow down to doubletrack and look for a trail entering the woods on your left. Once in the woods, the trails turns back to the south and you'll soon encounter a fun switchback section that twists back and forth across a fairly steep ravine.
After the ravine section, the trail descends and eventually levels out. Eventually, the trail begins a moderate climb as it angles back towards the outbound trail. Once the trail reconnects with the outbound trail, you can either exit to White Street via the
Ravine Trail or return to the top of Peak #1.
