Although many of the trails in this area are called Big Laguna Trail (BLT), this section of trail follows the eastern side of the Laguna Meadow and connects the many spur trails in the south with this "main" trail of the network. Portions of this trail are an important part of any plan to build a long, looping ride throughout the entire area.

It's also a more technical option (and a little longer) ride to get to Noble Canyon from the Meadows parking area in the south, instead of riding up the easier Big Laguna Trail - West option.

This part of the BLT trail is relatively flat in elevation, although as it winds through the trees you'll have short ups and downs with rocks, roots, and some minor obstacles. Some of the rocks provide an interesting challenge and a different level of difficulty than the smooth, easy trail on the west side of the meadow. All along this trail, the views out over the meadow are quite nice.

This trail can be ridden in either direction, although biking is not permitted east of the Sunrise Highway (S1). There is a large parking area on the North side of the trail (Penny Pines) for hikers and for those riding Nobel Canyon. There's also a small turnout for parking on the Southern end as the trail meets the road. The section of the trail from Sunrise Highway to the Escondido Spur is the least traveled of this segment of the BLT, and also the only part that follows a dirt road. Most riders start at the Penny Pines parking area and then ride south, or join the BLT from the several spurs.

Watch for traffic from bikers and hikers - a few of the turns don't have a lot of visibility.
